Il prossimo 10 ottobre arriverà in edicola una nuova miniserie Bonelli, che attendevo da diverso tempo. Si tratta di Greystorm, epopea a carattere steampunk (anche se Antonio Serra, il suo creatore, preferisce parlare di narrativa alla Jules Verne), il cui protagonista è un certo Robert Greystorm, un folle e geniale scienziato degli inizi del Novecento. Greystorm, grazie ad una spedizione al Polo Sud, farà an unexpected discovery that will forever change his life, leading him to choose the path of evil and creating a terrible threat to all mankind. His long adventure will be set in England, the South Pole and the islands of the Pacific, and will cover a period from the end of the 800 until 1920. Why do I care Bonelli this new project? For several reasons: it has to do with steampunk imagery that comes to technology and because it is somehow linked to the fact that RM is a reality of publishing. Already several years ago by Serra was a project similar to the present, but then had a different name, which drew a handful in the imagination of Jules Verne and seemed to wink at a fictional biography of the life of Robur, the character of Verne protagonist of two novels (Robur the Conqueror and Master of the World) and a film of the 60 dedicated to him, with Vincent Price and a young Charles Bronson. It was the middle of 2006, and I, at that moment, I was working at the tables of the first chapter of rubor maximus. I remember it hit me, I thought that aside from the beautiful "The Life of Julius Wonder" by Bilotta and Di Giandomenico, would take some time before he saw something that steampunk in Italy. He took the heat I decided it was time to give the prints to my story, I did not want to finish second and the case caused che la mia strada si incontrasse con Giorgio Messina della Cagliostro E-press; così, dopo qualche mese, nel marzo del 2007 uscì il primo volume di RM. Diciamo che la paura di arrivare secondo era legata al fatto che sia io che il progetto Bonelli lavoravamo su Verne e Poe, e la possibilità di creare situazioni simili era molto alta, ed il rischio di essere additato come un clone non mi piaceva. Adesso invece mi posso godere con tranquillità questa nuova storia Bonelli, anche se penso di sapere cosa troverà Greystorm al polo sud (se siete lettori di Poe e Verne mi capite). Vediamo se indovino oppure no… Poi vi faccio sapere se la serie mi piace.

P.s. informazione d'appendice: nella prima stesura di RM, the one presented in Lucca Contest 2005, the "machine" was found at the south pole.

Here I am, with some big news. Anticipazioni? Diciamo che mentre mi occupavo di RM lavoravo anche alla sceneggiatura di altri fumetti, che a breve vedranno la luce. Quindi, a parte una breve pausa, dalla prossima settimana si riparte a pieno ritmo...

Sono quasi le 02:00 di notte, e come sempre sono alzato. Può capitare di trovarmi nel letto prima di quest'ora, molto difficile trovarmi a quest'ora... Naturalmente dormo pure io come i comuni mortali e alla mattina vado al lavoro verso le 07:00, ma per mia fortuna ho uno strano modo di gestire il sonno, per cui alcuni giorni dormo un sacco, tipo pitone che digerisce una mucca, mentre in altri vivo di rendita, e saltello felice e contento per la stanzetta. E tutto questo senza farmi di alcun chè. Altri strani poteri: riesco a tenere in ardito equilibrio diversi oggetti tra loro e ho la capacità di assorbire i colori dagli abiti, scarpe comprese, che indosso. Una volta sono rimasto colorato di blu dalla vita in giù (fa quasi rima !). A cosa servono questi, quasi inutili, poteri? Boh! Ma forse un giorno lo saprò... E voi che poteri avete... ? Please, evitare di scrivere sconcezze ;) .

Visto che le scuole sono finite, ma ahimè per me già molto tempo fa, cosa di meglio se non parlarvi dei miei compiti delle vacanze. Dunque, entro settembre dovrò chinare ed editare circa 50 pagine di RM, per il superatteso finale di Rubor Maximus; certo ho un po’ di ansia da prestazione, un brutto finale può invalidare tutto il lavoro… Poi ci sono una serie di progetti miei che finalmente hanno trovato un disegnatore, più alcuni lavoretti sparsi. Diciamo che alla fine saranno ferie lavorative, come d’altronde sempre da qualche tempo a questa parte (hai voluto la bicicletta…!).

Ed eccoci ai doverosi ringraziamenti per i due giorni di allegria trascorsi in quel di Piacenza, a Fullcomics5, che poi a ben pensarci si potrebbe ribattezzare 5/1, visto che era la prima volta che si trovava allestita in uno spazio fieristico e con un ingresso a pagamento. In the sense that is present in the present: time ago I was browsing Marie Claire magazine (eeh yes, I read women's magazines: I like graphic design, fashion and special underwear on) and at one point my interest is drawn from an article, just think, 'on steampunk. Yes, it seems that in Brooklyn and nearby there is a proliferation of little men and little women who like to gather to drink tea, dressed in Victorian fashion. It sounds funny, but it has become a fashion phenomenon, with much of the show, magazines, fashion houses and accessories, all rigorously home made (maybe the only thing that remained of punk). I must confide that about steampunk American groups, some things are familiar, in particular the part relating to artifacts Furnishing: the remaking of computers in Victorian style, all manual work of a great artist, an example of which is the image that opens the post, by Datamancer. Perhaps one day I happen to meet on the street a copy of Gawain and Charlotte in the flesh, bones and clothes Victorian!
